Marzadro Coffee Alpine Creme 5CL
Born from the ashes and poverty of post WW2 Northern Italy, Marzadro Distillery was not an overnight success. Bored with her job as a domestic servant, Sabina Marzadro founded the business in 1949. It was a hard slog but Sabina had two big things in her favour: Pristine botanicals of Italy’s alpine Trentio region and a burning desire to make great grappa.
Slowly but surely Marzadro perfected their skills, developing some of Italy’s finest grappas and adding liqueurs, amaro, whisky, cremes and herbal distillations along the way.
Nowadays run by Sabina’s grandchildren, Marzadro is based in the beautiful mediaeval mountain village of Nogaredo, nestled in the Dolomites just north of Lake Garda. Their drinks are top quality, commanding massive respect in Italy’s hard to impress distilling sector. Artifex hold by far the UK’s biggest range of their products.
Marzadro’s Coffee Alpine Crème is a luscious gem of a liqueur, powerfully flavoursome, totally wonderful.
Tasting Notes
On the nose, this liqueur awakens the senses with the deep aroma of freshly ground coffee, softened by a creamy base that envelops it with elegance. The flavour opens with an intense espresso character, where the robust, roasted notes of coffee are beautifully balanced by the milky sweetness and absolute whiteness of alpine cream. On the palate, it delivers a soft, delicate, and velvety texture that feels luscious and harmonious. The finish is warm, comforting, and remarkably smooth, presenting the taste of espresso in its silkiest version without ever feeling heavy.
Distilling Methods
To create their renowned Crema Alpina range, Marzadro blends traditional mountain artistry with precise modern techniques. The intense character comes from a natural coffee infusion combined with neutral spirit. This is meticulously blended with a fresh cream emulsion made using the highest quality milk sourced directly from the local Trentino valleys. To ensure absolute consistency and shelf stability, the final blend undergoes two separate hot homogenisations before being pasteurised at 70°C and sealed with a classic cork closure.

Serving & Cocktail Suggestions
This alpine cream liqueur is exceptionally versatile and serves as a light, pleasantly mild drink. For the ultimate experience, serve it thoroughly chilled at its recommended temperature of 0°C, either straight up as an after-meal digestif or over a few cubes of ice.
It is a decadent addition to coffee-based drinks, whether warm or cold. For a refined cocktail, use it to shake up an Alpine Espresso Martini by combining it with vodka and a shot of fresh espresso, or stir it directly into cold brew coffee for a luxurious twist. You can also build a mountain-style White Russian by layering it over neutral spirit and coffee liqueur.
Food & Dessert Pairings
Crema Alpina Caffè is a perfect companion for the dessert course. It matches beautifully when poured directly over vanilla bean ice cream or used as an ingredient to add depth to a homemade panna cotta, tiramisu, or rich chocolate mousse. If you are serving it alongside baked goods, pair it with hazelnut praline sweets, warm chocolate brownies, or traditional biscotti to complement the roasted espresso notes.
