Sadar Orujo Brandy 70CL
The northern Spanish town of Pamplona is best known for its annual bull run that took its current form in the late 18th Century. A few years later, in 1844, the Licores Baines distillery was founded, selling Pacharan, Brandy and Herbal liqueurs to the Navarre region and beyond. Baines have had nearly 200 years to perfect their art and their sturdily tasty drinks are as popular as ever. As with the bull run, prepare for impact!
Tasting Notes
On the nose, Sadar Orujo Brandy is intense, fine, and delicate, revealing clear floral and balsamic overtones. The palate is clean, lively, and powerfully warm yet remarkably smooth. Notes of fresh grass and apple are underscored by gentle anise tones, leading to a long, full-flavoured, and lingering aftertaste.
Product Description
Sadar Orujo Blanco Aguardiente by Licores Baines is a premium, transparent pomace brandy crafted for discerning palates. This clean, pristine spirit is presented in a 70 cl bottle and carries an alcohol volume of 45% ABV. It delivers a traditional taste of northern Spain, balancing authentic firewater strength with an elegant complexity.
Distilling Methods
To make this particular spirit, the company sources grape pomace, the skins, seeds, and stalks remaining after the wine-pressing process, from harvested grapes grown in the fertile soils of Galicia. Adhering closely to ancient, traditional methods, the grape residues are carefully fermented and then subjected to a slow distillation process to preserve the pure, aromatic essence of the foundational fruit.
Serving Suggestions
• Neat & Chilled: Serve the spirit ice-cold in a small, traditional shot glass (chupito) after a large, heavy meal to experience it as a traditional digestif.
• On the Rocks: Pour a generous measure over a large block of ice in a lowball glass to gently open up the fresh apple and anise undertones.
Cocktail Suggestions
• The Northern Espresso: Add a single splash of Sadar Orujo directly into a fresh cup of hot espresso for a traditional Spanish carajillo.
• Spanish Pomace Spritz: Combine 4 cl of Sadar Orujo with 2 cl of fresh lemon juice and 1.5 cl of simple syrup. Shake with ice, strain into a wine glass filled with fresh ice cubes, and top up with premium soda water. Garnish with an apple slice.
Food Pairings
This spirit pairs excellently with rich, traditional Spanish desserts. Enjoy it alongside a slice of Galician almond cake (Tarta de Santiago), rich caramel flan, or toasted hazelnuts. For a savoury alternative, its powerful and warm palate contrasts beautifully when served next to a board of strong, smoked cheeses or mature, air-dried meats.
