The French have many talents, but agriculture and food and drink are surely at the top.

So who says they can’t do bitter spirits?  Amer is the French word for ‘Bitter’, just like Amaro is in Italy.  Is Amer better than Amaro?  That’s for you to judge. Amer Bellamira’s manufacturer,  Rozelieurs combines these skills to produce a terrific bitter.  From the bountiful slopes of the long extinct volcano Roselieurs, the Dupic family are farmers first and foremost (9th generation on the land) and distillers second (6th generation since 1890).

As farmers they have command of a superb terroir in the Grand-Est region of North East France and are one of a very small handful of single estate distilleries in the world, controlling every single aspect of production.  From land to bottle, everything  is in house and that allows a fanatical obsession with quality to play out in their drinks.  Roselieurs have been distilling since 1890.  They’ve had plenty of time to perfect their art.

The French know their stuff.  Go and do likewise.

Amer Bellamira is a unique French artisanal bitter aperitif with 18% ABV and a 70 cl bottle size. It balances traditional bitter elements with sweet fruit notes.

Tasting Notes

  • Finish: A balanced, refreshing conclusion that leaves a pleasant, lingering bittersweet citrus and plum impression.
